Fireworks can reach noise levels of 120–150 decibels, which is similar to standing next to a jet engine! Exposure to sounds above 85 decibels for extended periods can cause permanent hearing damage. Even short bursts of extremely loud noise can lead to tinnitus (ringing in the ears) or hearing loss.
Keep Your Distance
Stand at least 20 metres away from fireworks. The further you are, the lower the impact on your ears.
Wear Ear Protection
Foam earplugs or custom-made earplugs can reduce noise levels significantly without spoiling the fun. If you already wear hearing aids, ask us about special filters or settings for noisy environments.
Limit Exposure
Take breaks from the loudest parts of the event. Give your ears time to recover by stepping away from the main display.
Protect Children’s Hearing
Children’s ears are more sensitive. Make sure they wear ear defenders designed for young ears.
